The following pieces received or were nominated for key journalism honors of which I'm particularly proud, but whether it was consideration for a Pulitzer Prize or an honorable mention in a professional journalism competition, the words of my English teacher at Hackensack High School, the late Mary Downes, will always echo in my ear:
"As a writer, whether you reach one solitary reader or have the attention of millions on the front page of The New York Times, understand the responsibility you bear in touching and shaping even a single mind, a single opinion."
As you can see, Mary, I've never forgotten.
